Thanks @papahOOch - cosmetic is fine, and you are right about the gap. The built-in shopping categories come with their own icons (apple, wheat, milk and so on). A category you add always gets the "tag" icon, and there is no way to change it afterwards: the category manager can rename, reorder and delete, but it has no icon field. On the Material icons part: every icon in Yuvomi is drawn with Lucide, which already ships with the app - about 1,700 icons, and they follow the light and dark theme. A second icon set next to it would mean two drawing styles side by side in the same list, and it would have to be copied into the repository by hand, because Yuvomi loads nothing from a CDN. So the icons to choose from would be the Lucide ones. For shopping that covers most of what a category needs (there are icons for fruit, bread, fish, baby items, pets, cleaning, drinks and many more). The good news is that the piece you need already exists. Quick links, shift templates, waste types and the health settings use a searchable icon picker over that same set. Offering it when you add or edit a category is the obvious shape, and I have opened #1991 for it: an icon choice in the category manager, first for shopping, pantry locations, inventory and contacts, which already store an icon. No date yet. One question back, so the scope is right: is it only the shopping list for you, or would you also want to pick icons for your own categories elsewhere? |

@papahOOch Thanks - Lucide it is, then the picker that already exists is exactly the right tool. "Wherever a custom thing gets an icon": #1991 now says so. It comes in two steps, because the categories are not all the same underneath:
Changing it by tapping the icon itself is the shape #1991 already leans towards: the row in the category manager shows its current icon as a button, and the button opens the picker. Not built, no date. This thread stays open until it is released. |
Uh oh!
There was an error while loading. Please reload this page.
Now, this is purely cosmetic, but I'm missing the option to set icons for custom categories (e.g. in the shopping list, where the predefined categories all have their own icons), instead of the standard "tag" icon.
