Short answer: Standard AMD Adrenalin display drivers don't include the ROCm userspace needed for GPU detection, and the default installer pulls an NVIDIA/CUDA version of PyTorch.

Additionally, because the RX 9070 XT uses the newer RDNA4 (gfx1201) architecture, it requires ROCm 6.4 wheels to work properly.

1. If you are on Linux:
   Install ROCm userspace so system tools like rocm-smi are installed and your GPU is exposed (command -v rocm-smi).

2. Reinstall PyTorch with ROCm 6.4 support:

--index-url https://download.pytorch.org/whl/rocm6.4

3. Set the environment variable so the app doesn't automatically overwrite your PyTorch wheel on launch:

export OMNIVOICE_TORCH_VARIANT=rocm

4. Clear old overrides: If you previously set HSA_OVERRIDE_GFX_VERSION for older AMD cards, unset it. RDNA4/gfx1201 does not need it and will fail if it's present.

If you are on Windows:
PyTorch does not currently publish native ROCm wheels for Windows. To use GPU acceleration on Windows with an AMD card, you will need to run VoiceStudio inside WSL2 using the Docker/ROCm container.
